Imagine travelling in Afghanistan before the Soviet invasion, before the Taliban and the recent long war since 2001.
Kees travelled there as a backpacker in 1978 just after the so called marxist revolution from President Nur Muhammad Taraki and Hafizullah Amin.
This was the last year you could still travel around the whole country peacefully.
Taraki was killed by Amin which was too much for the Soviets who killed him in December 1997 and invaded the country.
